Riddles

Riddles

In "The Hobbit" Golem and Bibo have a riddle game. Here are some riddles that are similar to that.
I will be providing the answers on a separate page after the new year.
If you have any riddles, please tell me them with the answer, and I will post them.

01) There are 5 apples on the table. You take 2. How many do you have?

02) You have one match. You are entering a dark cabin. Now, there is a candle on the table, a lantern hanging from the ceiling, and a propane stove. What do you light first?

03) There  are two coins in my hand that equal 55 cents. Now this is important and must be remembered. One of the coins is NOT a nickle. What are the two coins?

04) There is a perfectly square cabin. In the middle of each wall, there is a window. Each window that you look out has a southern ex poser. What color is the bear and why?

05) How many birthdays does an average man have?

06) In the United States they celebrate the 4th of July. Is there a 4th of July in England?

07) In the newspaper the other day, an archaeologist claimed that he had discovered a coin dated 59 b.c. Is he telling the truth or lying and why?

08) February has 28 days. How many other months have 28 days?

09) A shepherd had a flock of sheep. In the flock were 120 sheep. On one dark and stormy night, a giant thunderstorm came. Lightning struck the ground and the sheep. All but nine died. How many are left?

10) A man was traveling from his home to the market. The man had three items to sell. He had a wolf, a goat, and a head of cabbage. Now the wolf would eat the goat, and the goat would eat the cabbage. But the man knew that none of this would happen while he was with all three. On the way to the market, the man had to cross a river. This river was wide and the water current was fast enough to drown anything that went into the water. The only way to cross the river was by boat. The boat was only big enough for the man and one other item. How did the man get the wolf, the goat, and the head of cabbage across the river so he could sell all three at the market?
